Clumber Park is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque settings on which you are likely to find yourself racing in 2005. The park is located in Nottinghamshire and is easily found from either the north or the south with easy access from both the M1 and the A1. The Park is only four and a half miles south east of Worksop, and easily accessible from the A1 being only one mile from the A1/A57 junction, and is only eleven miles from M1 exit 30. The Race is set to the back drop of of the National Trust’s Gothic Revival Chapel on an expansive site which comprises of a wide expanse of parkland, peaceful woods, open heath and rolling farmland. In terms of course the swim will take place in Clumber Park Lake whilst the bike course consists of a two lap course (Olympic distance) through some beautiful countryside encompassing a number of closed roads within the park grounds and includes a long fast stretch on the surrounding roads with some testing climbs throughout. The run involves a two lap circuit (Olympic distance) on tarmac roads all within the park grounds which makes it a perfect location for spectators. The sprint distance involves a one lap bike and one lap run over the same course. In terms of facilities the park has a well stocked Cafe immediately adjacent to the finish area and there are plenty of picnic spots, as well as some excellent traditional country pubs in the area. for more details have a look at the 'one step beyond' link or the 'pacesetters' website Good Luck Dave!!! |
